Care for Hair
On each corner of Shanghai’s streets you can find at least one hairdresser. Chinese seem to love to get their hair done and spend quite a lot of time on this. Not only women, but certainly also men. What’s more: almost 9 out of 10 hairdressers is male and extremely fashionable. Getting your hair done in China is an absolute indulging experience. Hairdressers, or actually they are called “Hair Stylists”, take their time to wash your hair and massage your head before they even have touched their scissors. In terms of hair products and brands there is a lot to choose from. Most of the well-known brands are represented (not always sure if it is the real stuff though), such as Kerastase, Wella, Schwarzkopf, Vidal Sassoon and Paul Mitchell. Besides some big and famous Chinese hair salon chains, there are also a few Western ones, like the French Franck Provost hair studios, Toni&Guy and a few luxurious European inspired barber shops. Once you are seated in front of the mirror, you will be offered something to drink together with a nice pile of the latest lifestyle magazines. And if you wish, you can get your mani & pedicure done at the same time. Now this is what I call true service!
