In many ways Shanghai’s street life has developed itself tremendously over the past years. Fashion/style wise it has gone from lots of blacks & greys and conformity to an outburst of colour and individual styles. Young people are experimenting with styles, developing their own taste and finding a way to express themselves. Imported brands such as ZARA, H&M and the more upmarket designer labels have very much contributed to this, inspiring local designers to get into the market with their own labels, which are really mushrooming and very fashionable; definitely ready to conquer markets globally. Cosmetics go hand-in-hand with fashion and also here some very strong Chinese concepts are developed in order to get a piece of the pie of China’s consumer spendings which are still going strong.
